Wow. That looks incredible. I love Dwarf Fortress but it's accessibility is still a bit... well, the learning curve kicks you in the jimmies.

Between Castle Story, A Game of Dwarves and now Timber and Stone it's going to be a very busy fall!

take heart, you have almost a month to collect some funds... :)

I hope I can save up to pay down the $30 for it. Maybe. I'm playing some DF right now. Or, well, staring at the title screen. There's an indie game out there that's similar. Less 3d though. Isometric. http://www.townsgame.com/ in which it's like DF but you instead run a town for adventurers. And stuff.

    Grats on your moderatorship, Steve!

    1) DF... dwarf fortress?

    2) towns looks very ... involved... lots of things going on in the 4.0 youtube sample video... wow...

    3) thanks! :D

Yeah DF = Dwarf Fortress. Towns is very much like Dwarf Fortress, only isometric. Stockpiles, digging, it's pretty involved. Like DF.

Timber and Stone looks more simplistic, which isn't a bad thing. At all. DF's accessibility, as mentioned, can be a bit... difficult. But then Fun ensues. And you start over. :D

i'll have to check these out! I always like the concept of DF but never had time to get into it and learn the UI and such. I was hopeful for Gnomoria until CS came about and totally swayed me. Both T&S and Towns look interesting! woohoo for awesome games.

Not sure he will make it, only 1.8k so far out of 50k. Lets hope he gets some publicity.
About towns, if you download, I think v0.6 is bugged, I could not dig more than one layer nor build above that one either. v0.5 seems stable though

He probably should've added the polish and publicity before the Kickstarter campaign, but I suppose that's what the funds are for. It looks promising. A little empty, but promising.

i think he mentioned in the kickstart comments that he intends to have some new youtube videos... but he really does need a quick PR boost if he wants to reach that target...

the more i watch, the more im interested in playing now...
  17. Ricomu Member

Agreed. $50,000 is pretty ambitious without advertising a lot. Does Kickstarter allow people to resubmit their projects? This campaign will likely fail, but if he gets the word out it might be worth another try.

It's cool that you're doing your part for the game though. You've already got the game a few backers.

i'm not entirely sure of the options for having additional campaigns... but i agree that it is unlikely this time will have a successful funding...

then again, that may be the requirement... if you are not initially funded, perhaps you can try another campaign in X months...
none that i have seen, but i would imagine he'll have a few in the coming weeks... :)

Cool, cause I was really hoping for a video on the KS and the stills just aren't doing it for me enough right now

EDIT: There IS a video on the KS, is that new? or last time I looked at the KS my computer just didn't want to show me the fact that it was a video
