STEAM Keys to Backers - Final Release Time

    Hey Forums

Just stumbled upon this great game, and had a few of my buds cash in on the 25$ back. We all are avid gamers and would love to see STEAM support of this in the future. I see the forums have a STEAM ID section, so do you guys thing STEAM will be used to get our retail versions of the game? Think about it, a cleaner computer, able to get and play your game whenever, and the studio wont have to pay expansive bills to support a high bandwidth. Plus, they will get more sales on STEAM as time passes, and free advertisement using the friends list. I see only ups, and I would love to get a KEY at retail release time. Who else likes or dislikes, or believe STEAM keys will be given out?

Steam is a great platform. That is where I get most of my games. I am not sure what the contract is like with Steam but if something can get worked out that would be the place to be.

I do not see this being a Steam game (i.e. a game that is only sold on steam). It might appear on Steam later but I honestly think they're going to go the Minecraft route, were you download it form the site at anytime and then log in.

    Perhaps they'll use Steam Greenlight.

And if all else fails, you can just manually add the game to your library. It basically does the same thing!
    kinda sorta

Personally, I like steam, but some people don't, so I hope we can choose between using it and not doing so.

I know they have already confirmed the soon to be humble store as one avenue, but I don't see why they would not go through the greenlight process with steam. With this kickstarter, there should be no problem getting accepted; and it would open up an entirely new revenue source and population exposure.

Though i enjoy the games on steam. I seriously dislike the Idea of Castle Story Joining Steam.
If the game joins steam they will not able to have as much freedom as they want.

Steam maybe awesome to use... I just don't like the steam downloader (It p----- me off all the time).
Though if this was an option to get it from the website or steam i would choose the website.

I wouldn't see it joining steam until after the beta was over anyway, so all features should be finalized and it shouldn't play any part in the game itself. I'd like it just for the easy community integration and joining friends in games easily.

Steam is great thing that has stopped millions / billions of torrent download because the good prices we have with games and good quality and all.. but this game is not really in need of steams support. The fact that steam is best digital marketplace doesn't mean everything should go in there.

But how many of you didn't pirate a game just because steam gave you too good price for it? I can tell that more than 80 times so far.

and I thought exactly the same, but there are many variations they could do to it. Logically, it would save them a lot of money if they do it via STEAM since they already have nearly 15k backers at 7 days. On the other hand, it would be a neat launcher. I say do both for the simplicity of it all; they are still a new studio and the help of STEAM's servers would save them bandwidth costs, but then again, I am not sure if they will charge them some sort of "fee" for enabling keys to be sent out to all of the backers first. Guess it is something that the developer will ultimately decided upon, but no matter what, it looks so far to be an amazing game. We will just have to wait and hear what they decided upon, after we enjoy the prototype to its fullest ;)

I hope they at least allow steam keys to be released, as I really enjoy a singular launcher rather than 1000 little stores and their own custom applications I must keep track of, plus the steam community is hard to top as long as you stay out of the public groups.

Exactly why I want a key. But honestly, after seeing they will spend more money into their already beautiful website; I have no problem using this website as an active forums, mod sections, and a game finder (if my buds are sick of me destroying their hard-built bases ;)) . We will just have to wait to see what they decide to do! But we all impact how it will end up, and so far, we can only help this become something amazing.

I would love the option to include the game in my steam library. Steam games are the games I frequently come back to, I dislike having to have a separate login/store/whatever for every game I get. I also really enjoy having my friends list and being able to join peoples games by clicking on their names.

I understand why some people don't like steam. Please make both an option :), the best would be if we could add on keys to steam and buy through you guys so we have it in two forms.

Like King Kay said earlier in this thread. You can just ad the game manually to Steam anyway.

Manually adding, and sdk supported steam integration are quite different. Either way, I just hope there is a strong steam community to find and play with.
  18. Mofu Member

Sure it is. But its not like ppl wont be able to play through steam :)

Well, they won't be able to join a friend's server (though this is completely hypothetical considering we don't know how their multiplayer will even work) and hours/achievements/sceenshots also can't be logged into steam.

Like i said. People will be able to play through Steam.
