Three examples of what we were thinking of

We created some mock up samples of songs we were thinking could capture the idea of the game. We too are hoping to compose for them. We try to use real instruments whenever we can and we think violins + electronic would really get the feel of this game down. The violins recreating the natural elements of trees and floating in space and the electronic capturing the digital feel of a world made of cubes.

Happy innocent bricktrons: Land of the Bricktrons

We're guessing that when the bricktrons all die the game is over. This is our interpetation of that feeling. Seems like a game over screen: Goodbye Bricktrons

The classic ice level trope. We think this is definitely the sound of cold: Ice in the Castle

    Hope you enjoy!

We really want to be a part of this game. Who doesn't? It looks so wonderful and has so much potential. If you're into it spread the word! We'd much appreciate it.

Edit: Apparently we can't edit our grammar in the thread title or change the spelling of "two" to "three". Sorry about that. :(

Honestly the only one I like is the 3rd one.
The 2nd one is almost too mideval sounding. Idk I just can't place why I don't like it. And I just don't know how the first one will fit in the game. But the 3rd one is magnificent. That is exactly what I imagine being in the game.
More electronic is where you need to go. While the instrumentals sound fine it just doesn't fit the game well. More electronic less instrumental. But don't take instrumental completely out!

You know, you can't get under-the-table favors on the Internet :p JK

OT, The tracks are pretty good, I'd imagine the first one in just the normal gameplay, the second could use a little less acute accents, maybe? But it is still nice. However, the third is definitely my favorite, it sounds dramatic, epic, cold ALL at the same time! Actually, I would kinda like you to make an extended version of some sort; But don't feel obliged. There is quite a bunch of artists wishing to create music for the game, I wish you good luck, you definitely got some chances C8.

There's very little activity in my section so I barely have anything to do :p.
Other than looking at the other sections for major law breaking.

Thanks! That was good of you. :)

I really like the first song, especially the violins.

I liked the second and third songs, but I don't think the 2nd song conveys a game over feel, so much as a "battle is over, men died, but every disaster brings a new beginning" feel. Sad and hopeful at the same time. That would be nice to have scripted to play after a wave of monsters

That's actually closer to what was meant by "game over". It felt like a sort of stats screen, when you're looking at all your totals of buildings destroyed, resources collected, etc.

A bit like any other RTS like Starcraft :3.
Not sure why but I feel like there should a stat called "Weirdest death".

The first one sounds a bit slow and creepy in needs more of a cheery beat.
Goodbye bricktons I can just imagine playing whilst staring at a gameover screen well done!
And ice in the castle just fits perfectly if you imagine a blizzard or an ice castle.

I think the first one needs a tad more electronics to fit the game more snugly. The second one is nice, but the third is AMAZING. Hope you guys get to compose for the game!

P.S. I love your "First Contact" music video. :)

The First one sounds pretty Fairy-like... And wouldn't fit the game at all.

The second one sounds pretty awesome like a medieval battle or someone is building a castle.

The Third one sounds a lot better. When I first heard it. I reminded me of Night-time or exploring a dungeon in a game.

Though if possible when I make a few lets plays (in the near future could i borrow the music if you make a full piece?) and will add your credit in the youtube link

Yeah, I think they're all good peices of music, but the third one was the best fit, so now I really hope we get snow.
  16. Mjt415 New Member

    I like all the pieces.
This might sound like a dumb question but I would like to know when the 1st and 3rd pieces would come into play?

    Hy!

Ambient sound: Wind trough grass, trees, around mountains (this can be static, not sim. in real time ofc.). Birds (like in the woods), even if u can't see, atm it's a summer/fall season. Maybe dynamic in time ( owls-bats at night ), and changing/fading with altitude ("sounds of the clouds", flying WHALES!!! ).

Ambient music: Lords of Magic - Order, Lords of Magic - Chaos, u should check out all the tracks, every one has decent moments.

Maybe u can implement an own tracklist option like GTA3 had. Just add some echo to it, this makes it like the sound is playing in Castle Story.

    Sorry for my english.

^Because spiders don't have ears silly!

Also that third one is awesome. So sick. Keep up the good work! All of your pieces had potential, try and develop simple melodic lines that elicit that happy-go-lucky feeling and 'cause us to sing (hum) along =)
